Google got a lot of buzz ealier this week about their translation bots that can do realtime translation in Google Talk.. Quite impressive, I’d say! Except that nearly everyone I interact with knows English (whether it’s the British, American or Indian flavour, or even Australian once in a while). That and the fact that I don’t use Google Talk..
In any case, as I was skimming through some older posts in my NewsGator, I found this post about a new feature in the Windows Live Toolbar that can do instant translation of text on the website you are currently visiting. While the technology doesn’t seem anything extraordinary - it’s about the same as copying the text and pasting to Windows Live Translator or any other translator of you choice - but putting it in the toolbar definitely makes it more accessible! Whether this is enough to convince me to start using toolbars.. that’s an entirely different issue!
