At the head of the grid, Ferrari and McLaren are doing their best to make this the most exciting F1 season in my memory, and BMW are trying desperately to join the party. But further down the order, there is a different kind of battle going on.. between some of the private teams and the factory teams that are supplying engines to those private teams.
This year Ferrari is supplying engines to Spyker and STR, while Renault, Toyota and Honda are powering Red Bull, Williams and Super Aguri, respectively. There is absolutely no contest between Ferrari and their two customers, but in case of the other 3, the private teams are trying as best as they can to show that they can get the engine perform betterĀ in their car than in the factory car.. And Williams and now Super Aguri have even had some success on that front.
