Life is far too important a thing ever to talk seriously about it..

Anand hi Anand

I had totally missed this until one of my friends mentioned it today.. Anand is now ranked 1 in the latest FIDE rankings!!

I remember the hysteria in the mid 90s when he rapidly rose through the Chess world. He has been among the top 3 for almost 10 years, but couldn’t quite make it to No. 1 until now. According to Wikipedia he’s only the 6th player to be ranked 1!

I know chess doesn’t get much coverage in India (which sport does, apart from Cricket and may be Tennis?) but this is really awesome news!!

Ferrari leads the way again in Malaysia

It may only be the second race, but this is already looking like the magical season everyone had been hoping for. Ferrari and McLaren once again proved today that there is hardly anything between them, and BMW showed that Australia was no fluke.

Massa was unlucky in Melbourne, but there was no luck involved in Sepang.. What an amazing finish that was to the Qualifying! Hamilton continued where he left off in Melbourne, it’s almost unbelievable that this is his only his 2nd F1 race!!

The other great performance of the day, in my opinion, was Rosberg’s. A lot was said about his debut last year and had he been in a slightly more competitive car, we would have heard much more about him. This year’s Williams is more promising, and the Toyota engine is helping too, but it’s nowhere near the front-runners.. and he still managed to pip both the factory Toyotas and end in Row 4. That’s definitely something special!! Last year he started from P3, but had to retire soon after.. Let’s hope he has better luck this year!

I know the Alonso-Raikkonen-Button generation isn’t quite old, but the new Hamilton-Rosberg-Kubica generation is looking really exciting!!
