In which Gibbs destroys the Dutch bowling attack
| 29.1 |
van Bunge to Gibbs, SIX, Violence! Gibbs charged down the track and hoicked it over long on. |
| 29.2 |
van Bunge to Gibbs, SIX, Murder! Floated on the leg and middle stump line and Gibbs sends it soaring over long-off. |
| 29.3 |
van Bunge to Gibbs, SIX, Carnage! Flatter one this time but it makes no difference to Gibbs. He just stands there and delivers. This one also has been sucked over long off |
| 29.4 |
van Bunge to Gibbs, SIX, Wah Wah! Low full toss and guess where this went Yep. A slap slog and it went over deep midwicket! He is going to go for 6 sixes in this over! |
| 29.5 |
van Bunge to Gibbs, SIX, Short in length, on the off stump line and Gibbs rocks back and swat-pulls it over wide long off. SImply amazing. What a batsman. This is pure violence! |
| 29.6 |
van Bunge to Gibbs, SIX, He has done it! One-day record. No one has hit six sixes in a row. GIbbs stands alone in that zone. And the minnow bashing continues! Full and outside off and bludgeoned over deep midwicket |
353 from 40 overs.. makes you wonder where they would have ended if this had been a 50 over game!
Gibbs got out shortly after his record breaking effort, but Boucher and Kallis made a ridiculous 139 from the last 10 overs (175 from the last 11 if you include the over mentioned above). If this had indeed been a full length match, who knows, Ian Chappell’s prediction might very well have come true!
AB de Villiers.. go kick yourself!!

hey,i honestly believe this ‘record breaking’ feat was first done by west indian gary sobers some decades ago. i clearly remember one of my text books in primary school with the caption for the lesson reading’six sixes in an over!!!’ will verify soon. not much of breaking records.
wearing my windies cap

and one more thing…
give the dutch a break!!! we west indians have coem to terms with the fact that if anything in the cricket world is considered to be horrible game, the windies go out there and try to do worse than that. we cant afford to judge. valuable lesson after india’s loss.

verified info
1968- sir garfield sobers (bowler malcom nash)
1984- ravi shastri (india)
2007- herschelle gibbs
prior to 1968 most amt of runs scored in an over was 34 held by ted alletson and it stood for 57 yrs.

You’re absolutely right about Sir Sobers.. but both him and Shastri did that in First class matches. Not that playing against Netherlands can be considered anything other than first class!
anyways.. how are you doing? I think Windies have a real chance of getting to Semis at least. as long as that Gayle guy can keep scoring. Lara and Bravo won the game.. Trini must be going crazy!

yeah, i think the degree of difficulty was greater than what the s african faced agaisnt the dutch. but it was a feat already accomplished first class cricket or otherwise.
im great, well we never know what goes on with windies, they are great today and tomorrow they are the worst. well super 8 is the next stage and the victory in the last game wasnt too convincing. well i went to bangladesh vs sri lanka yesterday and unfortunately bangaldesh lost. poor performance. but i guess india is still in the game. i going to try to get tickets for that game, it should be good. both teams fighting for a spot in super 8.
who would you put ur money on?
