According to CNET, Clearwire could go public as early as tomorrow. I’ve been using Clearwire for a couple of months now and I absolutely love it! Sure it’s a little expensive given the bandwidth they provide, but the biggest factor for me was the ease of use.. Right from signing up for the service to setting up the modem to starting to use all those tubes, the whole thing took probably 30 mins (excluding the hours I spent sitting in the traffic while driving back home). No waiting several days or weeks for the technician to arrive, or the modem to come in mail.. No need to get a landline that you’ll never use.
And add to that, the mobility.. As long as you are in the city, the only thing stopping you from going online is a power outlet, and even that should go away when they come up with the PCMCIA card (sometime later this year?) or when laptops eventually start shipping with WiMax chips.
Still early days for the company.. but the amount of money they are losing every year tells me they have a great future ahead for them
